Frequently Asked Questions
Is this medical care?
No. Healthspan Strategies provides preventive-health education, lifestyle strategy, and behaviour-change support — not medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency care. We encourage every client to stay connected with their physician and medical team and to keep up with their care and advice.
How is this different from health coaching?
Coaching may be part of the process, but the work begins at a more strategic level: a structured review, evidence-informed prioritization, and a written personalized strategy — followed by implementation support.
Do I need to be unwell to benefit?
No. The best time to develop a preventive strategy is often before a major loss of health or function occurs.
Can I participate if I have a chronic condition?
The service may be appropriate for people living with chronic conditions who remain under the care of their medical team. Suitability is considered individually, and medical clearance may be recommended where relevant.
Will you communicate with my physician?
You remain in control of your information. We help you prepare questions for your appointments, and — where appropriate and with your consent — recommendations may be coordinated with professionals already involved in your care.
Do I need ongoing support?
No. Some clients complete the review, strategy, and 30-day activation and continue on their own. Optional continuing guidance is available.
Are consultations available in person or virtually?
In-person consultations are available across Greater Victoria. Virtual consultations are also available; please enquire regarding your location.
Can couples participate?
Couples and partner-based packages may be available. Each participant receives an individual review and personalized recommendations, with shared sessions where appropriate.
Do you provide presentations for organizations?
Yes. See Speaking & Programs, or send a speaking enquiry.
